Thursday, March 21 - Hyalite 2nd Visit

The second visit to Hyalite was a great success. Cohort 1 came back to show the movie they had made due to the previous weeks technical issues. The students really enjoyed it and it was a great way for our group to have continuity with the last group. After introducing ourselves, we let the students know our plan to still do a movie but to do more of a music video that involved choosing an appropriate song, making signs about how bullying made them feel or what they could do to prevent it and the production of the video. They responded really well to the idea. We gave them paper and pencils to map out what kind of sign they would like to do and whether or not they would like to hand make their sign or use the computer to make their sign. It was interesting to see there was a split decision on making the signs so we decided to do both. I enjoyed they interactions with the students. There were kids that said they had never been bullied and some that said they were bullied a lot. It's a very dynamic group of students so our finished product will be quite a show. I would definitely go in next time more prepared. Working with this many students is going to be a challenge that I look forward too.
