Tech Club Visit #6 (Tuesday)

Yesterday (March 5, 2013) was my last and final Tech Club at Hyalite Elementary School. It was definitely hard to leave the students but I am so excited to see all that the next cohort does with the project we've put together and spent hours on over the last 6 weeks.
For our final Tech Club, I had the 2nd grade students practice their puppet show skit. I implemented scaffolding into this lesson by first just having the students read their lines without their puppets. Next, I had the students read their lines while holding their puppets and moving them accordingly. Finally, I had the students actually practice the whole puppet show, using their set stage and props. This method worked really well in that the students were able to practice their lines repeatedly but did not become bored because each time I was implementing a new aspect.
Overall, I definitely enjoyed this Tech Club experience and am so grateful for all of the feedback I received. Although I am bummed I won't be able to help finish the students' anti-bullying project I have full confidence that the students in the next cohort will do a wonderful job at enhancing and finishing the project. I am excited to go back when the project is all finished and be able to watch the students.
