ASP Reflection Week #2 (Thursday)
This week was a little difficult! First we could not use the school's Wi-Fi on Tim's laptop, so we had to use Hyalite’s laptops. Then, the pigtail would not fit but Mike saved us and had one we could borrow. We also needed a cord to have sound as our video played. The students came in from after snack and we started with a Prezi we made which they really liked! They thought Prezi was awesome, but you have to be 13 to make an account. After the prezi we broke them up into small groups of about four students and had one person out of each group get a laptop. That part went pretty smoothly. We then had them get on Tim's Mindjet account, which is a brainstorming webpage. Our plan was to have every group make their own brain map on bullying (we had a layout for them) and then share with the other students. Unfortunately, Mindjet is kind of like Google drive where anyone can make changes. So, the students were seeing everyone’s ideas and it was deleting their map. To fix this problem we had all the students shut their computers and we made the brain map as a whole and showed it on the projector. The students were really good about raising their hands and telling us their name before sharing. They all had very good ideas! Some of the students were a little noisy but I expected that. To wrap things up we had the students pick the rule they wanted to make a video on; over half of them picked rule number one. The students were very good about putting their computers away and making sure they were plugging in the charger as well. At the end, Beth made some of the students write Tim and me apology letters for being disrespectful. It's nice to know that next time might be a little bit easier!
